The West Hill & East Hill Cliff railways in Hastings, retains their original wooden Victorian coaches. The West Hill cliff railway (or lift, which ever you prefer!) runs through a brick tunnel, which truly is a unique experience. The West Hill itself offers some of the town’s most remarkable views, stretching round to Beachy Head, in the west and out across the Channel, the busiest sea lane on the world. The lift also offers the easiest way to access the Smuggler’s Adventure in the West Hill Caves & William the Conqueror’s castle. Better still, you can enjoy these sights from inside the West Hill Café which is open throughout the Summer and offers a wide range of drinks and meals. The lift’s charming lower station is in George Street which is full of continental-style cafés, restaurants, sweet shops, tattoo parlours, vintage bike shops, art galleries and bookshops.

The East Hill Cliff railway provides access to Hastings Country Park which overlooks the Old Town and Rock-a-Nore. It was in the country park that Hastings resident John Logie Baird, the inventor of television, got the inspiration which led to his first TV experiments. The carriages provide outstanding views over the Stade, home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe.

Town City Card members receive a 10% discount on tickets.
